Friday is upon us…

It has been a pretty crazy, stressful kind of week, so I cannot say  that I unhappy that it is almost over…

Last night was fun, though – although traffic was horrible.  I set off for Douglas Corner with a GPS estimated arrival time of 6:04p.m.  After I got stopped by a train that came to a complete stop.  After an unsuccessful attempt to find some way around (the train was blocking several main roads), I ended up back where I started, but the train had finally cleared. I finally arrived around 6:25p.m. or so and fortunately, the music had just started.  It was a songwriter’s round that included Mike Cullison and a singer-songwriter named Arielle – who impressed me highly.

I left there and headed to The 5 Spot to catch the last 45 minutes or so of Paul Burch’s residency show.  His outstanding band included Fats Kaplin and two bass players.

Finally, I ended my jaunt at The Family Wash for an incredible performance by Annie McCue. McCue is from Australia but surely has an honorary East Nashville membership card.

Got to hang with some awesome folks at each of those shows.

As I was writing this, I got the official word, that yours truly and Sue Havlish will be the hosts of an hour long radio show on the brand new low power community radio station WXNA. The show (Double Shot with Joe and Sue) will be every Friday from 2:00 to 3:00p.m.  As soon as the launch date is announced, I will let you know.

Friday means, that I hit shuffle from the “Featured Friday” playlist- so without much more ado – let’s get to it!

“Too Far Gone” by Joe Mansman and the Midnight Revival Band

Long time E2TG favorite, Joe Mansman is up first with the title track from the debut EP by his current project. I think this is some of the best work he has done – it has been out for a bit, but please check it out.

“A Cloud A Hand The Sea” by Drew Worthley

Our first listen to a song from the album Crucible which is out now.  Drew Worthley is a London based singer-songwriter.  Expect to hear more…

“If I Didn’t Care” by Ben Lowry

Another great song from Somnium – the solo project by Bang OK Bang member Ben Lowry.

“The River Underground” by exedra

Another one from Elemental.  Exedra is the new project from Jeremy Gluck – who we first were introduced to via his Memory Deluxe album.  This is atmospheric, shoegazey goodness.  Check it out.

“You Was Right Baby” by Eight O’Five Jive

And now, we have officially featured every song on the fantastic album, Too Many Men by Nashville-based jump blues band Eight O’Five Jive. It was groovy, swinging fun songs like this that helped Eight O’Five Jive to be a multiple award-winning band. The band recently made some great noise at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, and of course they were one of the inaugural class of “Earie” award winners.  Can’t wait to hear what they have up their sleeves for the encore.

“I’m Sorry and I’ll Try to Make You Feel Better After the Gig” by Discount Ravioli

We  close things out with some post-emomathcore, experimental craziness from the seven song release Come Looj With Us. They have already released the follow up. Via the Dord Music Group from Connecticut.  We have included a video for another Dord band called Urinal Cakes in the video playlist.

Peace out!

Rolling on toward Thanksgiving.   Keep an eye out for the 1st Annual E2TG Awards – 2015 – which I calling “The Earies”. (Tagline: “The Earies, it sounds strange but it’s really not”).

About “The Earies”:  I will begin announcing the awards around the first of December and continue on and off throughout the month.  There will not be nominees – because no matter how much people say that it was an honor to be nominated… well, you know.  Also, we will have recipients and not “winners”.  This is for two reasons, 1. Calling someone a winner may imply that others are “losers”.  2. The recipients may think there is some sort of cash reward, which there is not.  Nor are there actual awards.  It is an honorary honor.

The awards will culminate with the naming of the 5th Annual Ear to the Ground Artist of the Year.

There will not be fan voting, sorry.  Although we had fun in 2011 and 2012 running Readers Polls, I decided at the end of 2012 to suspend the practice.

Bribes will be accepted and the awards will probably go to the highest bidder.

Anyone caught taking the awards too seriously, will be severely teased.

All the awards are not all that serious, what I am serious about is taking another opportunity to recognize some of the great music that came my way in 2015.

In other news, after Thanksgiving, pending my getting in a bunch of seasonal music, I am thinking of having a once-a-week shuffle from a playlist filled with such songs. I am debating what to call the playlist.  Christmas is too specific as their may be songs that have nothing to do with Christ’s birth.  Holiday Playlist will probably piss off people – since apparently Holiday is a nasty word or something.  I may just call it the Red Cup Playlist.  We shall see.

We have another featured music shuffle today – featuring some favorites (old and new) and some artists hitting the shuffle for the first time.

“Coolin’ Out” by Rich Robbins (prod. OnGaud)

One my favorite young hip hop artists is back with another track from his Nimbus debut album.  For the video – I reached back to Rich Robbins’ first mixtape and the track, “Suburban Trap Rat”.  This was a nice groovy tune to ease me into the morning drive.

“Where the River Bends” by Brian Carpenter and the Confessions

The new album is called The Far End of the World – it is one of my favorite albums of 2015.

“Lucinda’s Room” by Aaron Lee Tasjan

It is no mean trick for an album to be both highly anticipated and a pleasant surprise, but that is what Aaron Lee Tasjan has done with In the Blazes. The album contains some of Tasjan’s best songs and the record sounds amazing.  ALT is already starting to appear on some “best of” lists.  Expect more.  Maybe he will even will an “Earie” award….

“Home You Built” by Ali Holder

Careful, #E2TG readers will remember this Austin singer/songwriter from the tracks we posted of her with Raindogg.  Holder has a new album called, From My Veins Will Fall.  I am really digging this album. This is the first song to appear in a shuffle. More to come.

“I’ve Got a Feeling” by Eight O’Five Jive

Award winning, Nashville Jump Blues band, Eight O’Five Jive return to the shuffle with another track from their excellent, “Too Many Men” album.  Expect to hear more about this album as The Earies progress.

“Oppenheimer’s Sister” by Zaibatsu

So called Pregressive (sic) Rock from Italy.  Zaibatsu have a new album called Zero, and this is our first listen to that album. More to come.

“The Actress Pt. II” by Calming River

The opening track from The Ones That We Left Behind  EP by the Danish singer-songwriter who records and performs as Calming River. This is our first listen to this record, and I like what I hear so far.

“No Change There” by Katie Mac

Our second listen to Liverpool singer-songwriter Katie Mac.  I did not find a video for this song, but Katie Mac did recently upload a video for another song.

“Cia” (Reprise) by Tom Schreck

And, we close out the shuffle with the reprise of a song we featured a week or so ago. From the Added Glory EP.  Tom Schreck is a Nashville singer-songwriter that you should get to know.

So, last night was week 4 out of 5 of the Campfire Propaganda residency at The 5 Spot.  Megan Palmer and Brian Wright were away, but great performances by guests Russell Thompson and Emma Berkey plus  Darrin Bradbury, Nellie Clay, and Tim Easton.  Love this town.  Next week, Nellie Clay will be having her album release show – same time and place.

“Rise” (Radio Edit) by The Christians

We start things off with a brand new single from a British soul/pop band who had a string of hit songs in the late 80s and early 90s.  The band have a new album called We.  This single “Rise” can be had on iTunes with proceeds going to Syrian Refugee relief.

“Nothing Ever Lasts That  Long” by The British IBM

We stay on the other side of the Atlantic with a song from a young Cambridge band who have a great indie/pop sound that I really dig.  Catchy songs. I dig.

“The Frame” by Jon Latham

Last week at this time, Jon Latham was launching his new album Real Bad News.  If you have not done so, go get you a copy.  “The Frame” delivers a heart-breaking sad song with a side of well-written photography metaphors.

“Sea Glass” by Susan James

The title track from Susan James’ latest album.  Definitely one of my favorites of 2015.

“Hymn (Highland Version)” by Tom Schreck

Tom Schreck has just released an EP called The Added Glory which serves as a companion piece to his two full-length albums, Outsider (2009) and Save Your Glory (2014).  Here we have a stripped-down version of one of Schreck’s signature songs.  A fully orchestrated version of the song appeared on Save Your Glory.  This version features Tom Schreck on vocals, pennywhistle, and keyboard.  I got to hear him do this song this past Monday at The Building – just him and his pennywhistle. Sublime. Get the EP at the usual on-line sources or come out to The Building this coming Monday and hear Tom and pick up a CD.

“Have Mercy Baby” by Eight O’Five Jive

Award-winning Nashville jump and jivers, Eight O’Five Jive are back in the shuffle – shaking things up with their swinging sounds.

“Sky” by Silverbird

Silverbird just recently released their full-length debut, called Pureland. Founder Tim Barr previously was part of Lana Del Rey’s band.  Silverbird has a wonderfully textured and rich sound.

“Lost at Sea” by Brian Carpenter and the Confessions

Philadelphia band Brian Carpenter and the Confessions released their album, The Far End of the World was released at the beginning of this month.  Cited influences include filmmakers David Lynch, Wim Wenders, and Cormac McCarthy, and I can get behind that.

Okay… this has to be a fast one.  I walked over to the Southern Festival of Books during my lunch break (when I usually write and post the blog) to see Julie Christensen and part of Stone Cupid (Chris Tench and Sergio Webb). They killed it as usual.

Last night – quickly – some highlights: Week 2 Campfire Propaganda Residency… guests Ariel Buie and Actual Wolf.  Megan Palmer – on keyboard playing a new song and a John Moreland song. Nellie Clay with Actual Wolf, Tim Easton as usual, Brian Wright – fighting jet lag and killing it (with Aaron Lee Tasjan for a couple of songs), Darrin Bradbury and Megan Palmer – Darrin leading his own more of meditation…

Coverfest at Basement East!!!  Major props to Terry Rickards for putting this together.  Everyone was great, and I don’t have time for a full report, but I will just say Los Colognes doing Bob Dylan’s Infidels album in its entirety and nailing it and Allen Thompson Band as The Eagles were my absolute favorites (it was all good). The Eagles segment was so much fun!

Also, ICYMI – #E2TG posted the new single from Zachariah Red this morning.
Check it out here.

Shuffle….

“Out of the Depths” by The Unravelling

A dose of heavy prog metal to start this Friday. The album is called Tear a Hole in the Collective Vision.  We’ve been spinning tracks from it for a while… it’s great!

“(You’ve Got) The Right to be Wrong” by Reckless Johnny Wales

Another really cool track from American Heart by Reckless Johnny!

“Meet My Maker” by Sammy Brue

“Jealous” by Sammy Brue

Two tracks from 14 year old wunderkind Sammy Brue’s EP, I Don’t Want You To Leave.

“April Fire” by Benchmarks

Flashback to before the Summer… another awesome song from the Benchmarks record.

“Issac Woodard’s Eyes” by Angela Easterling

Another from Common Law Wife… Angela Easterling just came into my consciousness this year, and she is already a favorite.

“Trouble on my Mind” by Tiffany Huggins Grant

One more from Jonquil Child.  Tiffany will be following David Olney on the Music Stage at the Southern Festival of Books.  Olney at 10:00a.m., Tiffany at 11:00.

“Drunk” by Eight O’Five Jive

The award winning Eight O’Five Jive with another track from their Too Many Men album.

“Play Me” by Rich Robbins (feat. Saba)

And we close out our Featured Friday Shuffle with one from Nimbus which is the debut album from the awesome Rich Robbins.  Hip Hop of the highest order.

Well, it is FRIDAY!  Not only that, but I have a three day weekend ahead of me.  Some prelims before we get to the Featured Friday Shuffle…

Last night was another absolutely astonishing night of music at The 5 Spot in East Nashville.  First, it was week one of David Olney’s September Residency. As always, the songs were fantastic and the band was tight.  Besides his usual band (Justin Amaral drums, Daniel Seymour bass, and Sergio Webb guitar), Olney was joined by Ward Stout (who played other stringed type instruments).  The highlight for me was when Olney played is signature song, “Deeper Well” and wrapped the song around a mind-blowing mashup of Bo Diddley and “Samuel Taylor Coleridge.

The late show at the Spot began with Reno Bo who was joined on guitar by Sadler Vaden (Jason Isbell’s guitar player).  Then, Jesse Lafser played a spirited set that impressed me greatly.  The night ended with a magical jam that features Cordovas and featured Joe Firstman (who was at one time the band leader on Last Call with Carson Daly), Audley Freed (Black Crowes, Sheryl Crow), Steve Gorman (Black Crowes), and the always amazing Brian Wright.  Late in the set, Firstman turned over his bass to guest Pat Sansone (Wilco). The band performed an absolutely killer version of Neil Young’s “Cortez the Killer”, and then Firstman called up another guest, Jewel who joined the band for John Prine’s “Angel from Montgomery”.  An awe-inspiring end to a great night of music.

Other news, Nashville singer-songwriter Kevin Gordon released his new album, Long Gone Time today.  You should buy this album, but if you need convincing, you can check out my review which is up on No Depression.

Finally, an update on WXNA, the new low-power community radio station being created here in Nashville.  There are just 4 days left to donate and be a part of making this thing a reality.  Details below:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/wxna-lpga/x-plosive-radio-wxna-lpfm-nashville/widget/video.html

Well, I’ve run on a bit haven’t I… we still have a shuffle to present….

“Savior of Love” by Brian Carpenter and the Confessions

We have our second listen from the forthcoming, Far End of the World album.  I am really digging the sound of this Boston band.  Check them out!

“Throwing Strikes” by Angela Easterling

One more from the incredible, Common Law Wife, album. This one is about baseball, a crushed dreams, small towns, and hard times.

“Shed My Skin” by Stone Cupid

Our first of two tracks from the forthcoming album The Cardinal by Stone Cupid – the Nashville band fronted by Julie Christensen (Divine Horsemen, Leonard Cohen etc.). The band features the dual guitar attack of Sergio Webb and Chris Tench, bassist Bones Hillman (Midnight Oil) and drummer Steve Latanation (Agent Orange).  If you failed to heed my advice to get in on the pre-order, then you will have to wait until early 2016 to hear this record. We have a live performance from Stone Cupid, and a fun video from Julie and her husband in our Video playlist.

“Market Place” by Eight O’Five Jive

Congratulations are in order to Nashville’s Eight O’Five Jive. The took home two Nashville Industry Music Awards for Best Live Blues Performers and Best Blues Artists.  Well deserved!  Too Many Men is a fun album filled with many great songs like the one we featured today.

“Paper Napkins” by Benchmarks

Another one from American Night. This song was first released as a solo single by Todd Farrell back in December. It is such a good song, and rightfully, it ended up on Benchmarks new record.

“Hit Me, Hit Me, Hit Me” by The Satisfactors

More straight ahead rock and roll from the self-titled debut by the New Jersey supergroup. A fun song!

“Broken Wing” by Stone Cupid

Another from The Cardinal.  If you catch her live, you may just be able to get your copy of the album.  Otherwise, mark your calendar for January 22, 2016.

“The One” by The Danbury Lie

Our final song from Scattered Moments of Connection.   More evidence to explain my continued infatuation with this music.

Guess what? We’ve reached the end of another work week!  Here’s to the weekend!

Last night, I had the great pleasure of experiencing the second ever Aqua Velvet – Exotic Sounds in Country Music show.  It was pretty fantastic.  For a more detailed account. Check out my review over at No Depression.

Since it is Friday, we have a featured Friday Shuffle to take us all into the weekend… sit back and enjoy the “show”….

“Into the Sky” and “Rose” by Vinnie Jonez Band

From Italy by way of my Inbox, this Heavy Rock band released their debut EP back in June.  The band is comprised of former members of other bands, and to my knowledge none of them are named Vinnie Jonez.  A nice double-shot of high energy ROCK to start off my morning drive.

“Letter from Hell” by Ted Drozdowski’s Scissormen

Up next we have another track from Love and Life. If you missed it, you can read my review of the album on No Depression.  Letter from Hell is one of my highlights from the Scissormen’s live set and what struck me this morning was how well the live energy of the song was captured on the recording.

“Falling From You” by Brian Carpenter and The Confessions

Another track from Brian Carpenter and the Confessions forthcoming album, The Far End of the World.  Really digging the sound of this record.  Looking forward to featuring more songs before and after the release date.

“Living on Thin Ice” by Chase Walker Band

Chase Walker is a teenaged Blues Rock guitar prodigy.  This song is a reaction to the all too often headline grabbing stories on the news.  The song is important and it rocks!  A great introduction (for me) to this young band… more hope for the future!

“Sands of Now” by Elephant Revival

This is the title track from the new CD/DVD release by Elephant Revival out of Colorado.  Digging this album a lot.

“Young Enough to Be My Son” by Eight O’Five Jive

Eight O’Five Jive’s latest album, Too Many Men, ranks among my favorites of the year.  They do the jump blues/jive thing better than just about anyone.  For some reason, this is one of my favorite songs on the record.

“Hard Times” by Carl Anderson

A CD Bonus track from Risk of Loss. This is a wonderful cover of the Stephen Foster classic.  Carl Anderson will be at The Sutler tomorrow night.  The always awesome Jon Latham will open the show around 8:30.

“Sweat” by Brock Zeman

Another superb track from Brock Zeman’s Pulling Your Sword Out of the Devil’s Back.  A little bird told me that Zeman may be back in Nashville in November.  I will keep everyone posted because you really want to see him live if you can.

“80s Track” by Rich Robbins (feat. K.Raydio)

And we close out the day with some hip-hop from the album Nimbus.  A pretty awesome way to close out the shuffle and the week.

It was great to see three great local artist with their awesome bands last night at The Basement (Classic not New).  Andrew Leahey, Mac Leaphart, and Sara Syms. Fun night!

Jumping right into the shuffle…

Disclaimer:  No rabid weasels were harmed in the compiling of this shuffle…

“STSisGOLD” by Sugar Tongue Slim

Another track from the World Café Sessions mega-download. I don’t know much about Sugar Tongue Slim, but I dig this, and I am impressed by the diversity of music that World Café puts out into the world…. almost as diverse at #E2TG…

“Carousel” by Circus Propaganda

Speaking of diversity… Carousel was the very first song by Circus Propaganda.  As I understand it, Circus Propaganda are no longer active as a group, but I believe all of the members are making music in various other combinations – most of which we have or will feature on Ear to the Ground. From Botany.

“Kissing in the Dark” by Eight O’Five Jive

Nashville’s favorite swingers… wait… let me rephrase.  Nashville’s favorite Swing/Jump Blues/etc. band – Eight O’Five Jive are up next with a public service announcement in the form of a cover of a Memphis Minnie classic. From Too Many Men.

“Lonely Town, Lonely Street” by Bill Withers

Sometimes… sometimes… you just got to hear some Bill Withers…  The lead track from Withers’ second album, Still Bill – which was the album that included “Lean on Me”.

“Play a Train Song” by Todd Snider

From the classic album, East Nashville Skyline (which was co-produced by Will Kimbrough by the way) comes this song, which I got to hear Todd Snider sing last week at The 5 Spot.  I tend to thing Todd Snider is a very big part of why East Nashville music is what it is…

“Anna” by Will Butler

This is the second track and one of two singles from Policy the solo debut album by Will Butler who is in some band called Arcade Fire.

“Her Love” by Black Vincent

Another awesome song from the Black Vincent album, Teardrop Deluxe which was recorded here in Nashville with the production team behind Diamond Rugs, T. Hardy Morris  and Deer Tick (Justin Collins and Adam Landry).

“Tell Her You Belong To Me” by Beth Hart

From Better Than Home – the latest album by L.A. Based songwriter and powerhouse vocalist Beth Hart.

“Spirit” by The Waterboys

Taking us out we have The Waterboys from their album This is the Sea. “What Spirit is man can be…”

Let’s jump right into the shuffle… some music for a  rainy Thursday morning here in Nashville….

“Hole in My Head” by Human Radio

So… I lived in Memphis for a couple of years back in the last days of the 1980s.  I had been really into the Nashville independent music scene, and to be honest (for a lot of reasons which are more about me), I never really caught up with some cool stuff that was happening in Memphis. But, I remember seeing signs on utility poles all over downtown and midtown for Human Radio.  My first thought was that this must be some sort of hip-hop artist – like a human beatbox or something, but again that was probably just me.  Anyway, at some point, I did finally catch up with Human Radio, and their self-titled album is one of my favorites.  Through a set of circumstances, the original line-up of Human Radio found themselves all living in Nashville recently (the band had relocated here shortly before parting ways).  They began playing some shows (I had the good fortune to finally see them live just a month or so ago), and now they are making plans to record and release some new music.  You can help.  Click HERE and see what you can do to make this happen.

“Lonely and Blue” by Black Vincent

Black Vincent of Michigan (fronted by Coley Kennedy) recorded their album here in Nashville with the production team responsible for the recent Diamond Rugs release (also releases from Deer Tick, Middle Brother, Sallie Ford, and T. Hardy Morris).  This opening track immediately brought to mind Roy Orbison – the best possible ways.  Coley Kennedy sings here with a classic sounding croon and is backed by some highly original and yet classic sounding Rock and Roll heartbreak music.

“Too Many Men” by Eight O’Five Jive

One of Nashville’s swingingest (did I make that word up?) bands, is up next with the title track from their current album.  There are all kinds of problems in the world, and Eight O’Five Jive makes this one sound like a whole lot of fun.

“Sunday Papers” by Joe Jackson

From Look Sharp!  “They wouldn’t print it if it wasn’t true…”

“Boy Got it Bad” by KaiL Baxley

L.A. bases singer-songwriter KaiL Baxley has a new album called A Light That Never Dies.  This song goes back to his 2013 album Heatstroke/The Wind and the War.

“Wild” by Royal Teeth

Another track from the World Café Session mega-download.  Royal Teeth are based in Louisiana, and the create a fun brand of Indie-Pop…

“PreGame” by Grumsling

From the EP A Church, On a Boat, In the Sea… Grumsling are from San Francisco, and they are absolutely fun.  They combine innovative music with a full-frontal multi-media attack.. plus they have their own avatar/mascot who looks kind of evil but in a really fun kind of way.  Cute evil… maybe.

“Fuck On” by Christopher Aaron Slade

What can you say?  Christopher Aaron Slade approached me with some of his music which he described as AC/DC meets Blondie meets Scissor Sisters (or something like that).  I was intrigued enough to listen, and so far I have liked what I have heard.  Basically a lot of power chords set to a danceable beat with just enough New Wave funkiness to keep things interesting.  *By the way, I decided not to censor the song title so, if you are offended… well…  I don’t know…

“Gwan” by The Suffers

And we close out the day and the work week (I’m off tomorrow) with some Soul music from Houston Texas – another from the World Café Sessions.

Back at the shuffle game after an extended weekend….  Let’s do this thing!

“Rat” by Tigerman WOAH!

Tigerman WOAH! are a Massachusetts/Georgia band. They describe their music as: “Appalachian mountain folk/bluegrass influenced punk rock with the occasional hip-hop freak-out.”  I can’t say that I disagree and yes it is as good as it sounds. This song is on the album Up South Vol. II & I.

“Gluten Farm” by Circus Propaganda

Circus Propaganda are from Bethany, Connecticut. The band includes Evan and Hayden of The Foresters. This song is on the album Botany. Look for a new album Parabola soon maybe…

“In My Own Time” by The Three O’clock

What about a bit of Paisley Underground, and a cover of a 1967 song from the Bee Gees.  This cover was on the 1983 album Sixteen Tambourines.  The original song was only 16 years old when this cover was recorded, and now the cover is over 30 years old, and it sounds fantastic.

“All Around the World Or The Myth of Fingerprints” by Paul Simon

From Simon’s album, Graceland and featuring the East L.A. band Los Lobos.  “I’ve seen them all and man they’re all the same…”

“Our Love” by The Bros Landreth

The Winnipeg band with a song from their latest album, Let it Lie.

“I Woke Up” by Mouth Reader

The Murfreesboro band with a song from their album, Hands.  The album is available packaged as a pop-up book that was released on Record Store Day.

“Misery Loves Company” by Eight O’ Five Jive

Another swinging song from the album, Too Many Men, but Nashville’s jumpingest, jiviest combo.

“Down the Dip” by Aztec Camera

The final song on the original release of Aztec Camera’s 1983 album High Land, Hard Rain.  Our second 1983 song in the shuffle today. I was 17 in 1983, it was a pretty good year.

“Lady in the Radiator” by Black Iron Prison

Black Iron Prison are a long running Metal band from Up-State (up state? Upstate? up-state?) New York.  The current line-up includes Elijah Hargrave who was a member of the 2013 E2TG Band of the Year Skeletons in the Piano.  So that makes this band family… the black iron sheep of the family?

“Know Your Animals” by Atticus Floyd

Atticus Floyd is from Connecticut.  They are part of Circus Propaganda who we heard earlier in the shuffle. Part of the amazing creative output from the youth of that northeastern state.  This song or a version of this song or a song with the same title is also on the Circus Propaganda album.  Anyway, it’s a cool song, and since I couldn’t find a video for Atticus Floyd – I posted one for a song from the Pink Floyd album Animals which share 2 out of 5 words with this song and band.  If you want to hear the Atticus Floyd song, I’m attaching a widget below.

Hudson K are an electronic synth rock duo from Knoxville, TN.  This song is from their 2013 Ouroboros and the Black Dove.  We grabbed it off a Noisetrade Bonnaroo mixtape which I take to mean they will be performing in Manchester next month, so check them out if you are down on the farm…

“Cherry Licorice” by The Felice Brothers

Dig this track from The Felice Brothers’ 2014 album, Favorite Waitress.

A live version of a tune from the classic 2010 double album, Raucous Americanus by E2TG favorites Tim Lee 3 from Knoxville.  Check out all of their music including their latest album 33 1/3 at the usual places or visit their website.

“Surprise, Surprise” by The Rolling Stones

This was the final track on the Stones’ third American album, The Rolling Stones, Now! which was released in 1965.

“Games People Play” (Joe South cover) by The Georgia Satellites

From In the Land of Salvation and Sin… this song is a cover of a 1968 song by the late Singer-Songwriter, Joe South, who also wrote the song, “Rose Garden” made famous by Lynn Anderson.

“Men w/ Tears” by Rich Robbins (prod. by Nate France)

Some  awesome Hip Hop music emanating from the suburbs of Chicago via the city of Philadelphia and currently settled on the campus of University of Wisconsin – Madison. Informed, honest, and innovative.

“Challenge of the Love Warriors” by Tom Tom Club

In celebration of the birthday of Chris Frantz founding member of both Tom Tom Club and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band, Talking Heads, we have this track written by Frantz from Tom Tom Club’s 1988 album, Boom Boom Chi Boom Boom. The track is breathy and sexy and (like all of Tom Tom Club’s music) incredibly fun.
